Purified Water Project
WHAT WE HELP SOLVE
Access to clean water in Guatemala is a significant challenge, particularly in rural areas, where many people rely on contaminated water sources. According to a report by the World Bank, in 2015, only 62% of the population in Guatemala had access to improved drinking water sources, such as piped water systems, protected wells, or springs. However, access to clean water varies significantly between urban and rural areas, with just 34% of the rural population having access to improved drinking water sources, compared to 87% of the urban population.
HOW WE SOLVE IT
The Ecofiltro can purify water from almost any source (well, faucet, river, lake, pond, rain, etc.) with very rare exceptions, such as salt water from the sea. If the water has too much soil in it, we recommend putting it through a clean cloth to avoid small stones and solid materials from clogging the pores of the filter. The Ecofilter traps solid sediments, parasites, parasite eggs and bacteria that contaminate the water. Likewise, the sawdust becomes carbon inside the Ecofilter which is responsible for eliminating bad odor, color and taste in the water such as chlorine. EcoFilter's are made in Guatemala by Guatemalans.
HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED
Donating a water filter to a family in need can make a significant difference in their lives. Access to clean and safe drinking water is essential for good health and well-being. By providing a water filter, you can help protect the family from waterborne diseases and contaminants. It not only improves their overall health but also alleviates the financial burden of purchasing expensive bottled water or fuel for boiling water. Your donation can bring relief and hope, ensuring that they have a constant supply of clean water for drinking, cooking, and basic sanitation. By making this compassionate gesture, you contribute to the betterment of their lives and empower them to thrive in their community.
Efforts are being made by Radical Missions to increase access to clean water in Guatemala, especially in rural areas, through the use of EcoFilters. For just $50, a family can have access to clean water for life.
